Faith + Hope

Hey Hey!

Had a great one this week…a lot better from last week anyways! I know that the Lord is mindful of his servants, and knows them perfectly. The Lord blesses us sometimes in ways we don't see, or aren’t "immediate". We need to combine Faith + Hope so we can trust Him.

We were so blessed to receive some "Golden Referrals" from a family and from head quarters! So make sure and tune in next week:)

We had a lesson with Sarah and Peter Dustin this week so that was amazing. We hadn't met with them for a couple weeks but we were able to fix that:) We brought our WML so that helped ton. We taught the Restoration and emphasized Eternal Families. They have 2 cute little girls so it was so wonderful. The Spirit was strong especially as blessings were promised, and as testimonies were born.

I love being a missionary. I love the Book of Mormon . I love God.

p.s. Transfers coming up...Pray that we stay together and I stay in Cam!

'Full Technology Mission'

Dear fam,

We’re late because of our awesome week!

Had an awesome week this week...I have been on an absolute Spiritual High!

We had an awesome chance to have a fireside with Alex Boye in Ventura. He told his conversion story and sang a couple of songs. The dude is funny, and kinda weird. But it was wonderful missionary experience.

I am so grateful for the Holy Ghost. Ran into some people this week who REALLY didn't like us. One guy even called me a "Pretty boy"...(My brother Parker is probably like yeah, he right).  So we ran into 2 pretty sticky situations when it comes to people bashing with us.  I know every situation is different and we are to act as we feel so inspired to.  The first experience came on exchanges with Elder Powell. We tracked into a family where the mother and father right away started to argue and say a lot of nasty things regarding Joseph Smith and the church. They denied sincere testimony along with every thing they had to offer.  The spirit was not there. And they were very active in what they believed. They were very hostile with their language and approach.  We took every different angle we could, and things were getting worse.

The second one came last night at a lesson with Elder Johnson and Elder Longi. We were teaching our investigator named Ann outside of a public library. We were wrapping up and then a man walked up and started to warn Ann that ‘we were of the devil and teaching false doctrine’. This was a lot worse than the firsts experience.  He was loud, very hostile, and said a lot of horrible, horrible things.  We were respectful, kind and loving.  But there is a fine line with that, and then defending our faith.  So we all stood up.  We didn’t say anything rude, or anything we would regret.  He wouldn’t stop, and talked about, ‘how it was his job to take people out of the Mormon church’. Then he started to walk away and told us to never come back.  And if we came back then he would come to our church and ‘preach’. So we told him when and where church was.  (Keep in mind our investigator is watching all of this). He kept yelling as he walked away, so we just apologized to Ann and finished up our lesson.

We also had a mission tour with Elder Schweitzer and Elder Wakolo of the Seventy. Man it was POWERFUL. I was able to receive some insight from the spirit which made it even more special.

To let you know what they said, in closing I would like to bear my testimony of Joseph Smith. That he was a wonderful man. A man of God. More importantly I bear witness that at the age of 14 this young boy knelt in a grove of trees not far from his farm house in Palmyra New York…and prayed to our God who then showed himself to this boy. Along with his Son, Jesus Christ. And over time through this boy prophet the Lord himself restored to the earth the FULLNESS of what the Father would have for his children while here in this preparatory state. I bear testimony that to stand for this transcendent event Joseph Smith was led to a record on golden plates. And by the very Power of God I bear testimony that Joseph Smith translated this record. Into what we have now...The Book of Mormon. I testify of this Book. That it is of God. That it is indeed the most correct of any book on earth, and that no man would get closer to God than by abiding by it's precepts. I know that a consistent study of it brings renewal, and that our ability to resist temptation will increase. I testify in the name of the Lord that because of the RESTORATION of the Gospel of Jesus Christ we have the fullness.  I know that as we live the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ the lives of our families will be blessed. And that through sacred Covenants made in the Lord’s house...We have the Authority to bind on earth and also in Heaven.  Jesus is the Christ, the Author and finisher of all that is and is to come. The Savior and Redeemer of the World suffered, lived, and died. And on the 3rd day He rose again. I know because of that we will all live again.

I speak from personal experience when I say that God over time puts certain people in our path to test us, to teach us, and some times even reveal to us our progression. And I know that in the midst of those moments as we "Look unto him in every thought", we realize that God's Hand is involved...That we will be fearless. And that God never forgets, nor forsakes. He just molds and makes. I will go ahead and close in the name of him whom I get to walk with every day, even Jesus Christ, amen.

Love, Elder Judd

P.S. We are offically a "Full technology mission”. Starting within the next couple weeks ALL MISSIONARIES  will be getting their own Smart phone. You will be getting an email shortly about the details from president. Wow it's gonna be amazing. Each missionary is to but their own phone and that stays with them. But only one comp has the Sim card and it stays in the Area come transfers.

That's awesome right?!

The week was a hot one!

Hello Hello Hello!

Had a great one and a quick one! This week there was a heat wave that passed over CAM so it was sooooo hawwt:(  (Doesn't happen that often) And plus we have been blessed every day so that helps.

We had interviews this week with President and Sister Nakken. It was a lot of fun. Due to time we were unable to sit down and talk with them. So we just took them to a lesson with 2 of our Investigators, Fred and Becky. Man that was a cool experience! We read and taught from Alma 32. Verses 1-16 is a Discourse to the Humble. Man, I wanna be like Alma. A nyways it was powerful.
And we had so so so so so so so so so so so so so much fun.

We also picked up a New Investigator this week named Ken Dawson! It was so cool:) He told us right off the bat "I'm not interested in Converting yet." And then I said, "Well that's good cause we don't Baptize Mormons!"  So here we go…

Hey I have been thinking a lot about you and grandpa and death. God decided to take both my grandpa's away.  I am sad, and it hurts. But he's also giving me a nephew in return.  The circle of life and the plan of happiness. Man I love him. God is good. God is really really good.

I can honestly say I have never been so happy.

Hey Hey Hey!

Man, what a week indeed! I just want to start out by bearing my testimony that this is the Lord's work. And that maybe even more importantly, he moves his work forward…no matter what! I know that we must have by our side the Divine Companionship of the Holy Ghost to move his work forward. And that we can walk with "Power and "Authority as we do so. And walk with Confidence that God is guiding our every move.

This week we had the chance to present our ‘Zone Theme’ and it went so well!  Our zone is full of some pretty stellar missionaries.  ‘Preach Deliverance by His Pattern’. That is our theme.  Elder McLawhorn taught about deliverance and how it relates to our purpose.  And then I gave a talk on gospel patterns.  And then we introduced PMG as the pattern to preach deliverance.  We are really hitting PMG hard. Commitments and goals.  We will be having a sit down with each companionship in the zone in the next 2 weeks to see how it is all going.

We found 6 new investigators this week! And they are all families! None with children are old enough to be baptized yet.  Their names are Nhina and Vin, and they are long time member referrals. They are Buddhist.  Then Sarah and Peter Dustin, who we had dinner with!  We taught them the plan of salvation, and plan to set them with a date this Thursday.  They have 2 daughters who are little. They are so promising, and ready.  Then we found Fred and Becky.  They came from the area book.  Fred is solid, and we’re having a little harder of a time with Becky.  We had a very powerful experience last night with them.  They had a lot of questions that we were able to answer for them.  Fred’s mother passed away not too long ago and so that was awesome to share about where she is now, and what will happen to all of us when we die.  I thought about my grandpa’s.  The spirit was so strong, and we know they felt it.  Fred said the closing prayer and we were so happy.  He gave the most beautiful prayer.  It was great.

The hot topic this week was the Plan of Salvation. I love teaching it simply because it answers those three main questions of the soul. Of where we came from, why we're here, and where we're going.

I know that God loves us. We are all literally his children. That we knew him as our father before we came here. And then we received a body of flesh and bone. Just as his. And that we have been sent here to be tried, and to be tested. And then in those moments, look to God. And trust him. I know that death is part of this glorious plan. And needs to happen in order for us to experience a "fullness of joy." And that we will all be resurrected. That unconditional gift.  And I know that we will all stand before our maker to me judged according to our works and desires.

I love being a missionary. And can honestly say I have never been so happy.

I love what I am doing.

Friends and Fam,

Sorry for the short one! Had a great week! I LOVE my new Companion Elder McLawhorn. He's from NC and we came out together. He is a stud. We play basketball and lift every week :)  We are so powerful together, and we feed off each other. We were just talking about how we just feel "BIG" when were walking down the street. And we always know that is the Power of the Divine Companionship. The Lord is blessing us every day. Have had so many cool experiences, and opportunities to teach 10-15 minute Restoration messages. Even just in contacting.

I love what I am doing. I love it. And why? People ask me that all the time when I say I love it.  Why? Because I have a perfect knowledge that at this time in my life, I am doing what Heavenly Father wants me to do. Satisfaction, that comes through the Power of the Holy Ghost revelating to me that what I am doing is pleasing Unto God. And that I testify that "true "Joy" in this life comes from no other source.

New comp. New Area. New Assignment.

Week 7 went by fast!

Transfers are here and I am saying goodbye to SLO YSA! I am headed down to Camarillo to be a Zone Leader. My new Comp is Elder McLawhorn. He is from North Carolina. We came out together and have became really good friends.

I hope this is okay to put in my email. Just wanted to give a quick shout out to my oldest brother Spence, and my sister in law, Natalie! Elder Judd will be an Uncle! Taylor and Sarah you better step up to the plate. Because you're up next.  Who knows Sarah and Travis might jump the gun:)

I love seeing the Hand of the Lord in my families lives as I serve. Tears of Joy fell when I heard the news. Baby Judd is coming soon. And Uncle Elder Judd (favorite uncle) will greet him last:)

I want to bear my testimony of the need we all have to recognize the hand of God in our lives on a day to day basis. As a missionary it is made a little easier. But I wanted to focus a little bit more when concerning our own progression. I received a letter from my Dad this week where he shared a scripture he had already shared with me in a letter previous. He said he "felt" that he should share this with me again. I know that "thought" to be inspired. And first I want to thank him for being worthy of the Divine Companionship of the Holy Ghost. It is personal so I won't tell to much. But I know in order for us to Progress we have to allow it. I know it sounds different. But some times the biggest road blocks we have in our lives are due to the creator of them. Our own selves. We "build up" when the Savior's Atonement is begging us to first access his power, that will then enable is to "take down" those Spiritual barriers. That once again Stunts our growth. Doctrine and Covenants 123...My whole mission I have not let myself "look back" to see where I have made it. Or to see that "change." I was so focused on setting my sights forward, that in reality I was disallowing myself to "see the salvation of God, and for his arm to be revealed." I know that God both allows and desires for us to look back and see the progress we have made. Because it is in that moment that we must look to him. Knowing that it was all done by his hand. That everything we become, and everything we yet hope to become is because of him.

God never forsakes, or forgets. He just molds, and makes.

Hello All!

Had a fast one but a good one! Found a new Investigator named Evan! He is Hayden's roommate. He's that first miracle after dropping Ryan...(told you;)) Evan is the son of a Pastor at the Church of Christ. With both Hayden and Evan we had an awesome discussion about the Doctrine of Christ. Man it was awesome. When we baptize Hayden along with Evan... were then gonna baptize that whole Pastors Congregation! You watch it's coming...YSA's are the future of this church. With the help of the Lord, it's our job to help raise them to become who they are to become. And that is indeed what the Lord wants. Such a blessing. Transfer ends this week! I hit 13 months on the 13th...Shoot.

Been reading in the BOM everyday (per usual) and have found an increased ability to "Simplify" living the gospel. A lot of the brethren lately have been putting a big hit on this.

With that in mind I want to bear my testimony that when Conversion is assured, LIVING the gospel does not have to be Complex. It can be made "simple". And as we increase our study and application of the Scriptures, and do as Nephi said which is to "Liken them unto us..." I know that our ability to comprehend how God governs, motivates, and blesses will be dramatically "Simplified.” Which just means that living all these so called "rules" can bring us true Joy, and true Happiness in this life, and in the next.

God never forsakes, nor forgets. He just molds, and makes.

End of July already?

Hello All,

Had a fast one in SLO this week! We had a great 1st Zone Conference with President, and Sister Nakken. Man it was just amazing. I loved every second of it.

Had another great lesson with Hayden! Bummer/Miracle of the week is that we Dropped Ryan Duncan. He's the one who had the date for the 12th of August :( But it's all good. Due to Accountability, and Commitment issues we have to say good bye for right now. Sounds crazy I know but as missionaries it's an act of Faith when it comes to this stuff. It's hard, and you don't want to do it. But the Lord sees that and all you can do is hope then for his "Merits, Mercy, and Grace." Which is pretty reliable;)

We learn in 2 Timothy to "Endure hardness as a good Solider of Jesus Christ." Man I love that!
Doesn't hearing that just want you to be better?! Every morning from 6:30-10:00 we get ready for the day. We workout, Eat breakfast, get ready for the day, then Studies:) (my fav) Ever since the 1st day of my mission I call that "Gear up." That's the first thing we do every day. We "Gear up." Do you? The world is a scary and evil, and is only getting worse. "Soldiers of Jesus Christ" can't "Endure" if they don't "Gear up!"  I invite you all to do the same. The times is now! It's not good enough to be a Consecrated Neutral. Pick a Side.
God bless you all!

I want to live here some day!

Exchanges with Elder Chesley

Walked, and walked, and walked, aaaaaaaaand walked.

Hey everyone!

Had a quick one this week. Like waaaaay quick. Nothing too crazy either. We have been driving so much! So I know my caption doesn't really make sense haha. But yaaaaaay for the Pioneers!

Our Bishop gave us some assigned names to go and visit all this week so that was fun. It's just so sad to see all the RC's who lose that FIRE after a couple years, due to the lack of doing the simple things. Like reading the Book of Mormon, praying, church attendance, etc. A lot of them were living with their boyfriends and girlfriends, so that is always sad to see as well.

Had the chance to go back to my first area ever on exchanges! Haha that was so fun. It's crazy to see how much can change in a year. Kinda like us. It just takes time for change to occur.

We will also be on the beach tonight:) Yes Momma, we did get permission…they are having a Surfing/Bonfire/Games/Barbecue social activity. So we will watch all these kids eat it form the shore. And I will laugh.

I don't really know what to type right now so I feel I should just bear my testimony.  We all love to hear at Fast and Testimony meeting all the little children's testimonies. So here is my simple, short, but sure "child's testimony.”

I would like to bear my testimony that I know this church is true. I know that God lives. And that if we will pray to him, he will answer us. I know Joseph Smith was a Prophet. And I know the Book of Mormon is true. And that reading it will make you happy. I know my family loves me, and I love them too."

Love them, then Learn from them, so you can Lead them.

Just for you, mama

I've been here a year already?!

What up dear family and friends!?

Man time has just flown by. I have officially been a missionary for 1 year! It's seriously just needs to SLOW waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy down! The saying that time flies when you're having fun has become such a reality for me. I am so grateful to turn it up a little bit, and see what the Lord has in store for year 2. There is so much work to be done, and I am so grateful to the Lord for allowing me to participate. Just trying to live in the blessing.

Had a couple really cool miracles this week! We found one new Investigator this week named Ryan Duncan. He is 28 years old. He is so so so HUMBLE and I love it! It makes everything so much easier when teaching him. He is so sensitive to the Spirit! Which I shouldn't be surprised because he is so HUMBLE! He has been listed as a registered "Genius" by a psychologist which makes it evern cooler! Haha...He said he can read a “ thousand words per minute." Man's a legend. We then asked him how long it would take him to finish the BOM. He said "six to eight hours!" And that is with taking notes! So excited for this kid. Anyways we met with him for the first time this past week and set him with a baptismal date for August 12th. What a miracle.

Hayden is doing okay. We are giving him a couple weeks to study and ponder about what he has learned so far. It's cool because it's like the Lord knew Hayden was gonna take time, and so he gave us Ryan in the meantime…miracle!

Had a "Christian Scientist" kid come up and tell us that he thought Christ was an "Alien." And that God is the "Sun". The moment he said that I mean I just couldn't take this kid seriously. The whole time we (he) was talking about "God and Sun". The whole time Brian Reagan was going off in my head: "The Big yellow one is the Sun! The Big yellow one is the Sun!" Good times.

Great Studies this week in 2 Nephi 2! Talks a lot about divine law, and how God has given us the ability to "act, and not be acted upon." And Lucifer didn't want that. That's one of the reasons he lost. There are two kinds of people in this world. There are objects who go to be seen, and then there are agents who go to see.  Love the Council we receive from Lehi to his sons.

The Savior wants to be our friend, to let him we need to be his too!

New Mission President and the 4th of July!

Hello All!

Hope every one had a great 4th! We had an awesome one here…spent it at a member who is rollin' in it so that was a blast. They are the nicest people. Had a great one, but a slow one. We roll like that some times.

Had a really good lesson this week with Hayden! We plan to set him with a date this Thursday so pray pray pray! He keeps on using the word "Research" when talking about how he will come to know it:/  If you have ever served you know why that worries us! We just stressed Prayer, the BOM hard! He seemed to understand, and the spirit was strong. We hope he felt it!

Got asked by ANOTHER woman if we wanted to join a "Sex and Drug Party" tonight. That was whack. Man this world is evil. And scary. But it's okay cause Athletes Adjust right?!;)

Was reading in Ether 12 again and got sooooo much on Faith! We must have a "Paradigm of Faith" is what I like to call it. If not, no "real power" will be obtained.

President and Sister are awesome. I love his vision. He is focusing so much on "us". 2 Nephi 2:30. the "good part.”

30 I have spoken these few words unto you all, my sons, in the last days of my probation; and I have chosen the good part, according to the words of the prophet. And I have none other object save it be the everlasting welfare of your souls. Amen.

He is so concerned  about us and about how we are doing. Not as much with Numbers and Baptisms etc.  Their theme Scripture is that one. But also they are focusing on D&C 4:4. With the Sickle being the BOM. So Powerful. DISSECT THAT VERSE!

Thanks for sending pictures.  I love getting them.  I love the pics. It's soooooooo busy in a YSA ward. Especially this one.

3 Things President Felix taught:

1.) Invite
2.) Invite
3.) Invite

Mom their is much I could tell you what your missionaries need to know.

It's not about you anymore....It's not about you anymore. The MTC is where you learn how to be a missionary. To do missionary things. The field is where you become one. Are they ready? The qualifications for the work: D&C 12:8. Don't just do missionary things. Be a Christlike missionary. They can memorize PMG, know every lesson, answer, and question to ask. But if they cannot find the courage to open their mouths all else fails. All they can do is invite. Every time you do, you have succeeded.

God Bless you all!

19 And there were many whose faith was so exceedingly strong, even before Christ came, who could not be kept from within the veil, but truly saw with their eyes the things which they had beheld with an eye of faith, and they were glad.

SLO YSA's and Parker for a companion

Hello you Wonderful People,

Had a great one this week! San Luis Obisbo YSA is the pace to be! These kids are so amazing, and they all teach me so much. I love working with young single adults. Along with the children they indeed are the future. A chosen Generation. A lot of these kids have some pretty big decisions to make at this point in their life. And that being said they NEED to learn what it means to rely on the Savior, and have the companionship of the Holy Ghost with them by their side. Just like we all do. But when times get hard, we must always remember to "Trust in the Lord with all thine heart, and lean not unto our own understanding." And it ain't easy. It was never intended to be.

So the Sisters left us with two Investigators, and a lot of LA's which is awesome! There are about 150 members in our books. But in reality there are about 450 not recorded! Wow...Time to get to Work:) Doesn't that just make you Happy?! That there is so much work to be done?! Such a blessing.

One of the Investigators named Hayden came to church! He is sooooo cool, and asks a lot of good questions. Deep questions! We just gotta make sure his intention is right, which will then help the spirit to work on him…because remember motive matters!

We have issued the whole Ward a challenge to read the BOOM by August 16th, and to highlight all the Christlike attributes/characteristics. Sound familiar? That is the same challenge we were issued by President Felix who is now home. We need to get these kids' testimonies where they need to be before they can help others build theirs.

President and Sister Nakken are here! I have not met them yet but my parents both have at the MTC...(cheaters:)) We will meet them both this Wednesday at a Zone Conference! I’m so excited!

Love this quote by President Hinckley speaking about missionaries and I testify that this is true..."They are healers among the people, serving in the cause of the Master Healer.”

My new Comp is Elder Alder from Idaho and I nicknamed him Parker. Just imagine Parker with a tag on. He is HILARIOUS, and I am just happy with my life right now. The Joy I am feeling, I cannot describe. I have my struggles every day, but that is a good thing.

Good-bye President Felix, and getting transferred!

Hey Gang!

Crazy week this week. Not too much stuff happening right now with our investigators just a lot of change! Patrick and Nicole both came to church this week again and both shared their testimony! It was so cool. It was in Sunday school and the Stake President was teaching because it was Ward Conference. But anyways, he posed a question and there were a lot of hands that went up. And Nicole raised her hand! But a couple minutes had gone by and the Stake President didn't call on her, and we needed her to comment! Such a good opportunity for growth. My comp and I were sitting in the very back row so I made eye contact with the Stake President as he was teaching and pointed to Nicole. He understood the signal and called on her. Then Nicole bore powerful testimony of the power than can come into one's life as they simply read the BOM. She talked a lot about where she used to be, and the progress she and her family has made. The spirit was so strong, and I too received a personal witness that the BOM is the word of God. What a wonderful experience to witness that.

Had a lot of cool experiences this week to go with it. We had our last Zone Conference this week so that was a cool moment. We focused a lot on the Book of Mormon, and Jesus Christ. The Felix's will be missed so much. I have had the chance and great blessing to get to know President Felix pretty well so that makes it even harder to say good-bye. But I will see them both soon when I get home!

Spent a lot of time this weekend saying good-bye to members here because I will be getting TRANSFERRED! What?!?! Yep I'm hittin' up the YSA's for the 4th time! Haha so excited! I will also be hitting my year mark this transfer which is absolutely insane! And so when July 13th comes it will be 1 year from when I started. And the coolest part about it is that I will be going back to SLO where I first learned it's not about me anymore! I am so excited, and it is without fail a tender mercy. I am so excited to get to work with these young people again. And cannot wait to see what the Lord has in store for Elder Judd in San Luis Obispo!

Came across this one in my Studies this week...Study. Apply. Repeat.

I love you,
Elder Judd

 Good-bye President and Sister Felix
